Astrid Lowe

Welcome to my page and thank you for stopping by!

You may be considering working with me, in which case no doubt you'll want to know what I'm about and how I can help you.

In a nutshell, I coach and motivate my clients in achieving results with their search dogs.

My biggest passion is for building and growing motivation. I believe that the right level of motivation makes training easier and more reliable. Like with a house, if you invest in building a strong foundation you won't have to spend the rest of your life patching things up.

I specialise in working remotely with online clients. No matter where you're based, I can coach you throughout the time you need me. Occasionally I teach in-person events.

I've experienced a wide range of dog breeds and both professional and sports handlers. I've coached clients in Australia, Austria, the Carribean, France, Greece, Germany, Latvia, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, UK and USA.

I speak five languages and have a psychology degree. My journey in search dog training has been influenced by Tobias Gustavsson and Boki Damis of Gritty K9, as well as the Scandinavian Working Dogs Institute (SWDI) in Sweden. I also have experience with other training methods used in the UK and the Netherlands.

My first involvement in working dog training was in the UK, with gundogs. The Labrador I had at the time didn't 'live to retrieve'. He became my first teacher in motivation and exploring the power of play.

While volunteering with a Search and Rescue team I decided to address the need for quality working dog training and invited some of the most progressive dog training instructors from the UK and overseas, hosting over 50 events and learning from some of the greatest teachers.

One day, I found myself teaching a Detection class and realised how much I enjoyed it. This is how Surrey Search Dogs came about. My friends say they always knew that I'd be doing what I do now, even before I did.

With On Target K9, I focus on the development of highly motivated working dogs and coach search dog teams to reach their full potential. I also run an international coaching programme for trainers who teach Detection as a sport.

I'm here to help you start or progress on your journey. Check out the offers on my website to see how I can support you, or send me a message with a few sentences describing your experience so far and what you want to achieve going forward.

"Astrid’s coaching and guidance are helping me stay on track and develop my skills as a handler, so I can set up my dog to succeed. I especially enjoy her focus on developing the right mindset which is also helping me with horse riding."
